Parks & Recreation

Mission Statement:

The Cortland Park Board’s responsibilities include oversight of the community’s parks and recreational needs to include planning, promoting and maintaining the land and facilities. The development of facilities not only provides a service to our residents, but also provides opportunities for those outside our city to visit, participate, and support the local economy.

The city of Cortland has many beautiful parks and recreational areas that are continuously being improved and updated. In 2016, a new splash pad at Pearl Park opened, funded primarily through generous community donations. Also in 2016, a new sled hill was built at the new Eastlake MetroPark, a joint collaboration between the City and the Trumbull County MetroParks.

The City maintains five (5) parks: Pearl Park, Willow Park, Rotary Park, Point Park and Eastlake MetroPark. Pearl Park focuses on children ages 0 - 12 while Willow Park focuses on adolescents ages 13+ and adults. Facilities and activities include a splash pad, sled hill, soccer fields, baseball/softball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, pickleball courts, sand volleyball, skate board park, playground/picnic areas and restroom facilities. Our sports facilities are home to the local youth baseball and soccer organizations, and the Lakeview High school tennis program. See City Park Rules and Regulations Here

Mosquito Lake State Park is located adjacent to the city. Mosquito Lake is one of the largest lakes in Ohio covering 7,850 acres of land. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Ohio State Parks manages the park.
