PARKS & RECREATION BOARD OCTOBER 14, 2013

 

REGULAR MEETING

 

The Parks & Recreation Board met on Monday, October 14, 2013 at 5:30 p.m. at the City Administration Building, 400 N. High St., Cortland, Ohio. In attendance were the following board members: Dave Christner, Frank Daugherty, Shane Mealy, Katie Watson and John Picuri. Also present was Mayor Curt Moll

 

Frank Daugherty made a motion to approve minutes from the September 9, 2013 regular meeting, seconded by John Picuri. ALL AYES, MOTION APPROVED.

 

Eastlake Park

 

Mayor asked that the Eastlake Parks Board (joint between City and Trumbull County Metroparks) meet and put together an outline of project that could be taken to Capri Cafaro to be included in the 2014 State Capital Budget. Project to include extending sewer and water, and a pavilion area with restrooms and a skating area probably a 1 to 1.2 million dollar project.

 

City has done most of the work to complete the access road and there has been some dirt hauled in for the sled hill.

 

Pearl Park

 

Dugouts were supposed to be started this week (LAC is coordinating this).

Discussion on restrooms and possible sources of funding to move this forward.

 

Willow Park

 

There was concern on whether city had provided the dirt for filling the outfield so that it could be spread in time to get seeded this year. (Note This had already been completed but was not communicated to Parks Board).

 

Three observations: Bruised area on one of pickleball benches, Net poles leaning on pickleball court, Still missing swings.

 

Other Issues:

 

Top Soccer said thank you for being able to use the facilities this year.

 

Repairs were made at Community Sign.

 

Dave asked that members start thinking about budget items for next year and longer term for budget. Fencing around tennis and basketball courts was mentioned as well as a splash park on the wish list.

 

Frank Daugherty made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Katie Watson. ALL AYES, MOTION APPROVED.
