PARKS & RECREATION BOARD             April 9, 2012

 

REGULAR MEETING

 

The City of Cortland Parks & Recreation Board met on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. at the City Administration Building, 400 N. High St., Cortland, Ohio.  In attendance were the following board members:  Mike Norton, John Picuri and Shane Mealy; absent were Dave Christner and Frank Daugherty.  Also present were Mayor Curt Moll and Service Director Don Wittman.                     

 

John Picuri made a motion to approve minutes from the March 12, 2012 meeting, seconded by Mike Norton.   ALL AYES,  MOTION APPROVED

 

Community Clean Up Day

  • Date and time set for May 5th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • Cub scouts have around 20 people helping. 
  • Lakeview’s Jr. Beta Club have six kids signed up to help.
  • Tom Andrews is ordering supplies for 100 volunteers.  Need to check if we need to order more.
  • An inspection of the parks needs to be completed to decide what needs to be done. Prefer to have a point person there to hand out jobs from job jar.

 

Point Park

  • Gazebo corner posts rotting on northeast side. Need to be fixed.

 

Willow Park

  • No update

 

 

Eastlake Park

  • Zach Svette reported dirt is flatter than expected; not able to move.
  • Environmental testing should come back clean.
  • Discussion on how to get bulldozer down the bottom of hill and order/succession of jobs.   
  • Proposed entrance:
    • South of Liberty
    • Line up with Liberty and then curve (possible problem with utility pole)
  • Plans:  Stage I in 4 to 6 weeks;  Construction next summer 2013
  • Mayor Moll and John Picuri tentatively meeting on Sunday.  Mayor will see if Fred is available.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pearl Park (walk-through)

  • Fence on west side of property.
  • Trash in northeast corner where sewer comes through.
  • Cut brush along east side of park and prune trees.
  • Seed around soccer goals.
  • Crack seal basketball courts; use Round-Up on weeds
  • Playground equipment needs graffiti cleaned off.
  • Playground equipment needs mulch, safety issue
  • Fill dirt around catch basin.
  • Remove large clumps of asphalt in parking lot.
  • Discussion on where to place dug out in relation to existing fence.

 

 

John Picuri made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Shane Mealy.  ALL AYES, MOTION APPROVED.
