PARKS & RECREATION BOARD                   November 9, 2009


The Parks & Recreation Board met on Monday, November 9, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. at the City Administration Building, 400 N. High St., Cortland, Ohio.  In attendance were the following board members:  Dave Christner, James Gibson, Mike Norton, and John Picuri.  Absent was Lisa Voytek.  Also present were Mayor Curt Moll, Service Director Don Wittman.


Jim Gibson made a motion to approve meeting minutes from September’s meeting, seconded by _John Picuri.  All Ayes  MOTION APPROVED


Pickle Ball Courts

  • Have had no complaints.  They are still using the courts.


5-Year Plan

  • No updates


Sled Hill

  • Meeting was held with ODNR, Corp of Engineers and County MetroParks – positive response from all
  • Mayor to put together a resolution for Parks Board to make a recommendation to Council regarding an agreement with ODNR, Corp of Engineers and County MetroParks for use of the state land.


Cortland Elementary

  • The school and parking lot along with the contents in the school are going to be auctioned off this Saturday.
  • The school has separated the playground (north side of Pearl) from the actual school property.
  • Council is working with the school on purchasing the playground area (playground equipment will stay)
  • We will need to look at the parking issue


Park Rules

  • Jim shared his 3rd rough draft of park rules and regulations
  • There was some discussion on the verbiage of some of the items.
  • Everyone agreed with the content of the draft and to forward it on to Law Director, Patrick Wilson.  Don and Mayor to work with Patrick on getting an ordinance written up.
  • Once ordinance is written up then it will come back to the Parks Board members for review and then they will vote on recommending it to Council.


John Picuri made motion to adjourn, seconded by Jim Gibson. All Ayes.  MOTION APPROVED
