PARKS & RECREATION BOARD June 9, 2008

 

The Parks & Recreation Board met on Monday, June 9, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. at the City Administration Building, 400 N. High St., Cortland, Ohio. In attendance were the following board members: Dave Christner, Mike Norton, Jim Gibson, John Picuri and Mayor Curt Moll. Absent was Lisa Voytek and Service Director Don Wittman.

 

Jim Gibson made a motion to approve minutes from the April meeting, seconded by John Picuri. ALL AYES MOTION APPROVED

 

John Picuri made a motion to approve minutes from the May meeting, seconded by Mike Norton. ALL AYES MOTION APPROVED

 

Playground Equipment

  • Completed, looks great
  • A big thank you to the Service Department Personnel for their hard work

 

Skateboard Park

  • Equipment is up and kids are using it
  • Concern over the kids taking equipment apart and moving, looking into putting in tamper proof bolts.
  • Dave & Don had talked about changing height of fence from 4 to 6.
  • Received 2 quotes for fence (u-shaped)

4 - $2,300 can do now

6 - $3,200 would have to go to Council for approval

  • John Picuri made a motion to go send an ordinance to Council as emergency for the purchase of a 6 fence around Skateboard Park, seconded by Jim Gibson. ROLL CALL: John, aye; Dave, aye; Jim aye, Mike, no. MOTION APPROVED.
  • Skate park rules reviewed, a couple of changes made to what is existing at the park now.

SKATE PARK RULES

        This facility is not supervised

        Use of this facility is at your own risk

        Safety equipment that includes helmets, elbow, knee and wrist guards are STRONGLY encouraged

        No bicycles allowed

        All other park rules and regulations must be followed

        City is not responsible for any loss, damage, or injury resulting from the use of this facility.

Jim Gibson made a motion to adopt Skate Park Rules, seconded by Mike

Norton. All ayes. MOTION APPROVED.

 

Tennis Courts

  • Dave does not have quotes yet on resurfacing.

 

Willow Park Poison Ivy

  • Not done yet, will get on as soon as possible.

 

Miscellaneous

  • Gazebos Point park brick clean up John to look into doing as a Make A Difference Day project
  • Dave has lights for the gazebos
  • Snowflakes need to get with Main Lite to get an inventory of breakers and eyes.

 

Mike Norton made motion to adjourn, seconded by John Picuri. All Ayes. MOTION APPROVED
